White Salmon, WASH. – In lieu of Skyline Health’s full-day health fair with the participation of local vendors, Skyline will offer community members discounted lab tests throughout the month of October, as well as low or no-cost flu shots through its Family Medicine Clinic.
No appointment is needed to receive discounted labs and this service is available Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Lab test results can be sent to a patient’s primary care provider if specified. Anyone without a primary care provider is welcome to make an appointment for a free 15-minute lab test review with Erica Didier, M.D., or Jenna Newcomb, PA-C, at the Skyline Family Medicine Clinic.
Lab tests include basic metabolic panel, cholesterol panel and diabetes screening for $50 and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) for $20. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit/debit card. No insurance will be billed. To learn more, call 509-637-2601.
To receive a flu shot, simply stop by Skyline Family Medicine Clinic or make an appointment any time during flu season. A vaccination may be free with medical insurance. There is no-copay unless required by your plan. Skyline is also offering a self-pay option. Cost per flu shot for patients age 6-months to 64 is $40 and for those 65+ $60 (this shot is more expensive because patients in the age range need a double dose of Flu Zone HD). To learn more or to make an appointment, call 509-637-2810.
“The health fair served as an important opportunity for our community to get discounted health screenings. However, in the interest of creating better access to this service, we realized it made more sense to allow patients to come in for the labs when it was convenient for them,” said Debi Budnick, Skyline Health’s outreach coordinator. “This one-off event, was only accessible to those who could make it to Skyline on a specific day during a specific time. We believe this model is a more equitable approach to ensuring access to preventive services.”
